Chapter membership is a separate step which may be done at the moment you join PMI, or sometime later, but don't put it off too long! You'll want to take advantage of local events put on by the chapter, meet your local PMI members, network, and share knowledge.

NOT A MEMBER OF PMI?
You don't need to be a project manager to join. However if you are interested in project management or thinking about becoming a project manager then membership in PMI could be important for your career. PMI membership signifies that you’re serious about your project management career and your professional development. Turn on Automatic Renewal
Avoid paying $10 to rejoin.
Renewing members will be required to pay an additional $10 fee to rejoin if their membership is allowed to lapse. Avoid this issue by turning on automatic renewal for both global and chapter. Login to https://my.pmi.org/ , select Manage Automatic Renewal (global), scroll to the bottom of the page and turn on chapter renewal. Remember to click Update Chapter Renewal Status.
